JOSE MORA-JIMENEZ (1977)

José was born in San José, Costa Rica, where he studied Classical Guitar and Music Composition at the University of Costa Rica. He has been living in the Netherlands since 2006. He completed his composition studies at The Royal Conservatory in The Hague, he also followed the master’s degree Cultural Economics and Cultural Entrepreneurship at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam where he graduated Cum Laude.

His music has been published by Berben Edizioni Musicali in Italy and Les Productions d'Oz in Canada and is regularly performed in different countries around the world. He is currently active as a composer of modern music as well as composer of music for video games and media.

  • Third prize at the Nilufer International Classical Guitar Competition, Turkey (2015)

  • Winner of the 4th Calefax Reed Quintet composition competition 2011, the Netherlands (2011).
  • Winner of composition competition of the association “Vrienden van het lied”, the Netherlands (2011).
  • Finalist at the "International Music Prize for Excellence in Composition" Colorado,USA/Greece (2011).
  • Selected two times for the concert series “15 minutes of Fame” in New York (2011).
  • Second prize at the Boston Guitarfest Composition Competition, USA (2009).
  • Second prize at the National Composition Contest for Guitar Ensemble, Costa Rica(2002).
  • Second prize at the First National Composition Contest for Solo Guitar, Costa Rica (2001).
